technology for convenience

last year , it was a pain for me to pay the bill for my reliance cell phone...

i always pay by cash. so i go to the webworld. where i have to waste at least half an hour of my precious time just waiting in queue.. whats more it opends at 10.30 ( i am in college by then) it closed for lunch in the afternoon . the service is pathetic . and it shuts shop at 8.30 . half the time the power isnt there , so they cannot help you.

now you have this wonderful facility where you can pay your bills on the site of reliance at the following link :

you have to create an account, and then at your leisure , you can pay the bill using your credit/debit card ,
whats more , u can view your entire payment history right for the last five payments , and you can also see your unbilled usage.
you can also send messages, though it was not a very user friendly experience.a boon for people like me whose time is very precious. technology does make life easy for everyone

from bathroom singing to karaeoking at the acres- chembur




well ,
These pics are of the day when the alumni committee members of simsr for 2007 decided to reward themselves for the efforts they have put in for the institute and bringing more visibility for the committtee in general .

The venue was acres club at chembur.....

it was the karaeoke night with dj savio rocking the dance floor.....

followed by the go karting, the booze started flowing and then the drinks happened...

the food was pretty good.... but the cake of the day went to the karaeoke round where i got the opportunity to sing my favourite song of my favuorite actor from my favourite movie.(main koi aisa geet gaun ki aarzoo jagaun agar tum kaho....)
although i sucked big time with my voice , i guess i made it up with my attitude..
the applause by the 30 something crowd was worth it...............

an experience of a lifetime.....

something i always wanted to do.....................

latest example of infringement !!!!

A new brand of mineral water has come up called "AQUARICH" (aquafina + oxyrich) which is packaged exactly like aquafina with just the changed name. it is being manufactured by an unknown company in taloja district outside mumbai......

enforcement of patent and copyright is still at a very nascent stage in india.

everyone is requested to make sure that they identify these dubious brands and not confuse them with the original ones................

Back in form after a long time



Happy days are back again.

Played my second club match for the season.(had got out for a mere two runs in the first one)I had in my mind to really make a match of it.

Usually i bat two down,but for this match i was three down.
It was a 45 over match. we won the toss and elected to bat.
15 overs and we were stuck at 50.The second wicket fell in the 20 the over at 75 runs.

I joined the crease.....
At that stage 180 was looking like a good score , coz the other team was bowling really well.I started settling down on the crease taking a few singles and twos.

Then the blast started.........
8 fours , 4 sixes

the fourth and fifth wicket partneship of over 50 runs each set the stage for us

I was getting tired.........
finally got out trying to slog in the 41st over with the score on 220.

82 runs it was ............. of 70 balls..........

then we collapsed and ended up making 239 , setting a target of 240....( it could have easily been 260)

the other team got out at 204 . we are now in the second round, with matches scheduled for friday and sunday.hope to continue the good form.

order in chaos.....

yesterday was the first day of the lateral placement week..............
one of the most important days for any management institute.

it was like poetry in motion..........
it was like the white geese who fly in the formations u see in the sky......

very systematic in terms of planning , coordination , directing and controlling
attention to detail
team work
no goof ups
cross check at every point
almost perfect synchronisation
use of technology
customer service-(in terms of treatment to the recruiters)


i hear 52 students got placed yesterday with companies of the likes of icici bank, covansys,eclerx,pulsar knowledge solutions , hsbc , infosys and some other companies.....

congrats to the placement committee for putting up a good show ........
i am sure it will continue for the executive placement week as well.......
for people who are not placed........ chill!!!!
u r in safe hands..............

good example of positioning/strategy .............

today morning i was going from home to college at around 11am....

on the way i notice an rto officer checking two wheelers and fining them for helmets.

BANG 100 metres theres a man selling helmets on the road.......

just a coincidence or perfect positioning?????????? ......


a little ahead u have another policemen checking cars for puc.....
bang 200 meters away u have the mobile puc van.............


who needs an mba to learn strategy??????????????

interesting corporate lessons !!!!

CORPORATE LESSON # 1
A man is getting into the shower just as his wife is finishing up
her shower & the doorbell rings. After a few seconds of arguing over
who should go and answer the doorbell, the wife gives up, quickly
wraps herself up in a towel and runs downstairs.
When she opens the door, there stands Bob, the next door neighbor.
Before she says a word, Bob says, "I'll give you $ 800 just to drop
that towel that you have on". After thinking for a moment, the woman
drops her towel and stands naked in front of Bob. Bob has a close look
at her for a few seconds, hands over $800 and quietly leaves.
Confused, but excited about her good fortune, the woman wraps
back up in the towel and goes upstairs.
When she gets back to the bathroom, her husband asks from the shower
"Who was that?" "It was Bob the next door neighbor," she replies.
"Great,"
the husband says, "did he say anything about the $! 800 he owes me?"
MORAL OF THE STORY: Share critical credit information with your
stakeholders to prevent avoidable exposure!

CORPORATE LESSON # 2
A priest was driving along and saw a nun on the side of the road,
he stopped and offered her a lift which she gladly accepted. She got
in and crossed her legs,> forcing her gown to open and reveal a lovely
leg. The priest had a look and nearly had an accident. After
controlling the car, he stealthily slid his hand up her leg. The nun
looked at him and immediately said, "Father, remember psalm 129?" The
priest was flustered and apologized profusely. He forced himself to
remove his hand. However, he was unable to remove his eyes from her
leg.
Further on, while changing gear, he let his hand slide up her leg again.
The nun once again said, "Father, remember psalm 129?" Once again the
priest apologized.
"Sorry sister, but the mind is weak." Arriving at the convent, the
nun got out, gave him a meaningful glance and went on her way. On his
arrival at the church, the priest rushed to retrieve a bible and
looked up psalm 129. It Said, "Go forth and seek; further up, you will
find glory.">
MORAL OF THE STORY: Always be well informed in your job; or, you might
miss great opportunities!

CORPORATE LESSON # 3
There were these 4 guys, a Russian, a German, an American and a
French, who found this small genie bottle. When they rubbed the
bottle, a genie appears.
Thankful that the 4 guys had released him out of the bottle, he said,
"Next to you! all are 4 swimming pools, I will give each of you a
wish. When you run
towards the pool and jump, you shout What you want the pool of water
to become, then your wish will come true."
The French wanted to start. He ran towards the pool, jumped and shouted WINE".
The pool immediately changed into a pool of wine. The Frenchman was
so happy swimming and drinking from the pool. Next is the Russian's
turn, he did the same and shouted, "VODKA" and immersed himself into
a pool of vodka.
The German was next and he jumped and shouted, "BEER". He was so
contented with his beer pool. The last is the American. He was running
towards the pool when suddenly he steps on a banana peel. He slipped
towards the pool and shouted, "SHIT!!!!!!!.........">
MORAL OF THE STORY: Mind your language, you never know what it will
land you in.

CORPORATE LESSON #4
A junior manager, a senior manager and their boss are on their way to
a meeting. On their way through a park, they come across a wonder
lamp. They rub the lamp and a ghost appears. The ghost says,"Normally,
one is granted three wishes but as you are three, I will allow one
wish each"
So the eager senior manager shouted, I want the first wish. I want to
be in the Bahamas,on a fast boat and have no worries. "Pfufffff, and
he was gone. Now the junior manager could not keep quiet and shouted
" I want to be in Florida with beautiful girls, plenty of food and
cocktails. "Pfufffff, and he was also gone.

The boss calmly said, " I want these two idiots back in the office
after lunch ".

MORAL OF THE STORY: Never forget that whatever you do you are not away
from the notice of your boss.
