cockroach in ur tongue !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

One day a girl licked the envelopes and postage stamps instead of using a
sponge. That very day the lady found a cut on her tongue. A week later, she
noticed an abnormal swelling of her tongue. She went to the doctor, and they
found nothing wrong. Her tongue was not sore or anything. A couple of days
later, her tongue started to swell more, and it began to get really sore, so
sore, that she could not eat. She went back to the hospital, and demanded
something be done. The doctor took an x-ray of her tongue and noticed a
lump. He prepared her for minor surgery. When the doctor cut her tongue
open, a live cockroach crawled out!!!!

There were cockroach eggs on the seal of the envelope. The egg was able to
hatch inside of her tongue, because of her saliva. It was warm and moist...

This is a true story reported on CNN

printed and saw several squads of cockroaches roaming around inside a couple

foodforthought: GFO CRICKET 2008 FINALS - AM Champs Win!!!!!

foodforthought: GFO CRICKET 2008 FINALS - AM Champs Win!!!!!

GFO CRICKET 2008 FINALS - AM Champs Win!!!!!

HERE WE GO folks..........This is what the Champs and the Firehawks must've been thinking when they made their entry to the grounds of the magnificent Thakur stadium in Kandivali (East). THE DEAD AS A DODO pitch, the lush green outfield, the intimidating grand stands which in due course..was to house a sell-out crowd of 50 ardent supporters from either side, the overwhelming sound system that kept the teams highly motivated to the tunes of the Chak De war cry AND last but not least..The star attraction in the stands, no my dear friends...its was not Katrina Kaif, but the gorgeous GFO Cricket Winners trophy being unveiled by the events organizers and for a minute the two teams just stopped in their tracks and gazed at this amazing prize. Yes folks, who was going to take this beautiful trophy home today. Was it going to be FINAPPS..a dedicated group of consistent performers who play the game tough and don't give you an inch. They had now made it to their 3rd consecutive GFO Cricket finals, but were in no mood to settle for the runners-up a third year running. OR...was it going to be the Champs from Asset Management who started off on shaky ground, but as the tournament progressed have gone from strength to strength and were peaking at the right time. Winning was not new to this inspired lot. Amit, Kunal, Iqbal, Brendan have all won the Championship before and with a host of newcomers playing their debut finals were all set for the big game.

A huge round of applause as the captains Amit Ghatnekar (AM Champs) and Vicky Gaikwad (Finapps) went out to toss with the umpires. And for the first time in the tournament Amit lost the toss and from a distance, signalled to his boys, that they would be padding up first. Both captains rallying their troops one final time before a spiritedly Finapps entered the field. Hemanshu and Brendan were the two openers all geared up. Remember, they won the semi's chasing 110 and did it with 9 wickets to spare, so they were brimming with confidence. As the first ball was bowled you could sense the nerves in the crowds. The Champs got off to a sedate start, playing themselves in. A few extras in the form of wides meant that the score was ticking without taking much risk. Then, in the fourth over as the opening duo were taking a quick single captain Vicky with a brilliant direct hit from behind the stumps got Brendan run out. Kunal an important asset to the AM Champs batting line up fell next ball caught by Ganesh at backward point, he didn't have to move an inch. After 5 overs it was looking like Finapps were in the drivers seat. In steps Yashwin another feather in the strong AM batting line up. Hemanshu and Yashwin both stroke players played their natural game and with lovely drives straight, and on both sides of the wicket put together a decent partnership. The Champs were soon out of the danger zone and with the Hemanshu-Yashwin partnership blossoming the match was level pegged at the 10 over mark drinks break. Hemanshu who scored two half centuries before the finals was now tearing the bowling apart. Quick bowling changes and different field settings, but soon nothing was going the Finapps way. Yashwin getting his act together with some lusty blows over the top. The Champs were now playing themselves into a position of strength. Yashwin fell with a beauty of a delivery from Uday in 13th over for a well made 46. With 7 wickets in hand, it was now a question of how much the Champs would settle for. With some big reputed hitters in their ranks, entered Piyush. He gave Hemanshu decent company but soon perished......The stage was set for Captain Amit to blast off, getting to the center with a runner. Wow...more caos, this was going to be fun. But Amit played some beautiful shots picking the gaps well. Finapps was now wilting under the heat and Hemanshu who opened the batting was also tiring out. Hemanshu then skying a high ball to long on and easily taken....started walking back to the pavilion. But a twist.....the umpire signalled a no-ball. Iqbal getting ready to enter the pitch happily chatting to Himanshu on hows the wicket while Amit and Brendan call Hemanshu back. Well...a reprieve for Hemanshu on 56. He then went on to further pulverize the bowlers scoring 89. The finals overs saw Finapps snapping up 3 quick wickets for nothing. But the Champs by then had put on 177 runs. Uday Tripathi took 3 wickets.

The supporters were definitely getting their money's worth out of this one. Aarti Gulati, Saraswati Nambirajan, Manoj Jain all in the crowds egging their AM Champs team along. Finapps also getting behind their team as they always do with Ritesh Chichani & Prashant Poojary taking over commentary from Sandeep Bhandari. A formidable total on the board for the Champs and the Firehawks needed to bat out of their skins to chase this one. In an earlier game they had cracked 190 batting first, so this was still not out of reach by any stretch of the imagination. A quick break and the Champs were soon out on the field to a warm applause knowing that an early couple of wickets would put them in the drivers seat. The dedicated opening pair of Anurag and Ranjeet then stepped out one final time. Fareez and Kunal opened the bowling for the Champs and kept a tight leash on the batsmen. Anurag was looking to swing at anything outside the off stump but not connecting as well as he would have liked. The fielding of the Champs took a nose dive at the start with catches going down left, right and center. The first 5 overs was all about poor fielding and aggressive intent from the batsmen. Fareez then got Ranjeet with a quick toe crunching yorker and this gave a huge sense of relief to the fielding side. Vicky a reputed no. 3 batsmen then stepped in to keep the socreboard ticking along. Amit the hatrick hero then picked Vicky bowling a beauty, and followed that up with the wicket of Anurag (who made 23 runs) and soon the semi-final hat-rick hero was in with another hat-rick chance but this time it was not to be. But the quick fall of wickets meant that the Firehawks were starring down the barrell at the 10 over drinks interval at 70 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. Leo and Kedar in the distance getting cartons of beers ready in the stands, Wow...this finals was really getting exciting now. As Ganesh and Aditya stepped out to bat, the Champs with one hand firmly on that trophy. But the thriller still had some twists in the bag. Ganesh and Aditya with a cool head just played each ball on its merit and stopped the flow of wickets. Ganesh soon got his eye in and played aggressive stokes and in no time, the Firehawks were 125/5, and with 5 overs to spare needed 50 runs. In this day and age of T20, that was an achievable target and the Firehawks just kept playing good cricket shots and were in with a chance. With 3 overs left, the Firehawks were 35 runs away and the Champs knew the it was not over yet. Piyush then came on to bowl, but Ganesh with a couple of hits got ten runs off the over. 2 overs to bowl and 25 runs to get. 2 boundaried once again in the over and Firehawks were within touching distance. 12 runs required off the final over and Piyush bowling his off spinners it was very difficult to hit. The Champs who weren't fielding well at all, in the last 3 overs suddenly stepped up to the plate and kept the good shots down to just singles. 2 balls and 8 runs win and Piyush bowls a dot ball. Ganesh hits the last ball to long-on but the game is all over by then, he scored 44 runs and a 90 runs parternship with Aditya (who made 35 runs). Though the game went down to the wire, the AM Champs rose to the occassion and emerged the true Champions. Firehawks lost the 3rd final(GFO cricket) in a row. Both teams gave it their all, but in the end the Firehawks played with too much fire and got smoked out by the AM Champs...!!!

Prize distribution and congratulations from Aarti to both the teams and comments from the two captains, team photographs and the beers started flowing. The Best Batsman award went to Himanshu Gala for his 3 half centuries including a match winning knock of 89 in the grand finale. Uday Tripathi bagging the best bowler award picking up 10 wkts in the tournament. Well.....Some smiles, some dejected faces but in the end, Cricket won and all thanks to the GFO Cricket organizers for making this event a very memorable one

THE TRIP TO SRIVARDHAN

Till the time we went to this place , even I hadn't even heard of the name. I friend who had been there , had given a high recommendation. SO we decided to take the risk. We had a choice between Alibag and Srivardhan , and for some absurd logic(as usual), we chose the latter. As it turns out, it is one of the most memorable trips I have ever had, for 2 reasons, one, the place itself, and two, the company that I had, ie, my office colleagues. There were 11 of us in all, and we had a blast of a time. I learnt some new things on the trip, one of them being POKER.I also learnt that I had a very bad luck in it. So can't make a career in it........

Almost everyone was skeptical, till the time we reached the place. It was a marathon journey, from 7am in the morning till about noon, with a pittstop in between, for breakfast, at a place called VADTHAL NAKA. We put up at a farmhouse called Matruchhaya - decent place, close to nature, but with all the necessary amenities, and some adventure thrown in by lizards and cockroaches.

We had home made food, which was delicious. The owner himeself served the food alongwith the family members.

For the first time, in the cops and mafia game, the cops lost and the Mafia won .............AND HISTORY WAS CREATED.............. Took a hell of an effort throughout the game to convince the others that I was the MAFIA and Not The COP. I was in the danger zone almost everytime except for once. The Cops were shrewd , but not good enough......

We also played the other popular game of the winking thief, which asual, was a big hit.....

Srivardhan is not yet commercialised, as is Alibag, so the natural beauty has not been tampered with.We basically went to 3 places , Harihareshwar, Srivardhan and Divyaghar.
The water at HariHareshwar is said to be dangerous. The tides are unpredictable, and at that time it was around AMAVASYA.But we still had our share of fun, playing cricket, volleyball, handball. We had planned to go to the MTDC resort nearby to play some watersports, but ended up spending the entire evening at the beach. Alongside the beach is a temple called "DAKSHINKASHI".

The beach at Srivardhan was the best.Sunday morning we went there , played frisbee, dodgeball.

There are also quite a few resorts. The best thing to watch is the road from Srivardhan to Divyaghar. The coastline is full of scenic beauty , which has to be seen.... can't be explained.

At divyaghar, is the famous ganesh temple, where the idol is made of Pure gold..... it is called "songanesh" or "songanpati".
The funny part is that there is an old lady who keeps on demanding money from visitors, stating that the temple is built on her house, and they have to compensate for the same......

We left for Mumbai, singing some few hundred songs, playing Antakshari, and reached home by 7.30 in the eveining, tired & exhausted.....
Office starts next day....... back to the routine, but with memories of yet another unforgettable experience. Here are some of them, captured on camera.

Result of the 1st Semi Final on 29th March 2008 - Grass Warriors v/s AM Champs

Grass Warriors - FTP Projects/BM/BPR/CFO Support/HR/Essbase Planning
AM Champs - IMRE/Strategic & Business Development/Analytics

The competition now hotting up in its final stages as we were down to the top four tems in GFO, promised some very high quality cricket and adrenaline pumping action. Both, Grass Warriors and AM Champs very high on energy and team spirit, were looking to stamp their authority in the game early and book a place in the all important final. An early morning start, Amit Ghatnekar playing his first game of the season captaining the Champs and not letting his team down with the toss, the Champs winning 5 tosses in the tournament on the bounce. The Champs elected to field first, confident they could chase down any total the Warriors would set. Fareez started proceedings for the Champs with a bang, picking up Rupesh Salian edged to first slip, a smart catch by Kunal Phadnis. Kunal then followed that up with a maiden to the other opening batsmen Anuj Vohra, so the pressure was firmly on the Warriors from the beginning.

Tejas who was in good knick from a recently concluded practice match against CRG (where he scored a half century in just 21 balls) hit a couple of boundaries before succumbing for 13 runs to a peach of a delivery from the crafty left arm spinner Hemanshu. The Warriors with a slowish run rate of 4 an over sent in Arvind Tantry whose capable of some lusty hitting. But after being beaten to the turing ball on numerous occasions fell stumped by Kunal to Hemanshu.

Anuj after playing a sedate knock fell for 16, caught at deep mid wicket by Brendan of off spinner Gagan (aka. Ghajji). What was to follow, was a combination of a brilliant piece of fielding by Brendan in the outfield and wicket-keeper Kunal to get Mukesh Khatri run out while attempting a second run, leaving the Warriors 5 wkts down for 70 runs. Amidst all the falling wickets, Leo held one end up and kept the scoreboard moving. In stepped the man with the golden arm, none other than captain Amit Ghatnekar..who struck with 3 inch perfect deliveries...yes folks, a HAT-RICK (Bipin bowled, Sandesh and Megdhoot brilliantly stumped by Kunal). That really knocked the wind out of the Warriors sails. Another run-out courtesy Brendan-Kunal combo to get the main stay Leo out run-out for 26 runs in the penultimate over. In the same over, Gagan rapped last man Murtuza on the pads to wrap the Warriors innings in a hurry which ended at a dissappointing 94 all out in 18.3 overs.

Amit Ghatnekar - 3 wkts, spin twins Hemanshu and Gagan 2 wkts a piece and Kunal the wicket keeper with 6 dismissals to his name, a fabulous all-round effort in the field by the AM Champs.

The Champs in the drivers seat at the interval needing 95 runs to win.

Openers Hemanshu and Brendan stepped out to bat, it was going to be hard work for the Warriors with the sun beating down mercilessly on the players. Both batsmen started off brilliantly with boundaries and complemented eachother very well. Brendan played the anchor role while Hemanshu was in an aggressive frame of mind and kept spanking the bowlers to all parts of the boundary at will. Spraying the ball all over the pitch din't help the Warriors either as they ended up giving 25 extras.

Hemanshu made light work of the Warriors bowling attack with 7 fours and 2 sixes completing his half century in style in just 30 deliveries and in hurrying to finish the game off early fell to Vishal Dave caught at long-on when the scores were level.

Iqbal stepped in, but din't get to face a single delivery with Brendan getting the winning runs and ending up not out. The Champs putting the match beyond the Warriors even before the drinks interval in 9.3 overs and winning by a huge margin of 9 wkts. A convincing champion like victory for the AM Champs, cementing their spot in the Finals where they will face the winners of the 2nd semi's between the Firehawks and Bright Stars.

Scores: Grass Warriors - 94 All out in 18.3 Overs
AM Champs - 95/1 in 9.3 overs

Result - AM Champs won by 9 Wickets.

Result of Match-3(Super Six) held on 8th March 2008

This was the third and final clash of the super six stage, the winners assured of a place in the semi's. The rock hard wicket and a lush green outfield (guys diving full length for a simple pick up n throw :), Iqbal won the toss for AM Champs (3rd time in a row) and had no hesitation in deciding to bowl first. Nithin and Pramit provided Bright Stars with a steady start, Nithin playing some fantastic cut shots. However, Fareez and Kunal kept the batsmen in check with good line and length bowling. Fareez then got the initial break-through of Nithin with a magnificent catch by Iqbal at backward point for 17 runs. Samit, last years player of the tournament stepped in with his huge reputation looming large on the bowlers. He was just getting into his stride and hitting the ball well, when Kunal bowled a beauty of an over..a maiden, 4 balls on the trott..missing Samit's outside edge. In the next over itself, Yashwin got the bowl to swing away and Samit was caught behind for 19 runs. A tired Pramit also fell shortly scoring 12 runs. The Champs squeezed the Bright Stars not allowing them to get away and at the drinks interval..10 over break the Bright Stars were 65/3. It was then time for the spinners to take over..
the terrific duo of Himanshu and Gaganpal (aka..Ghajji) to bowl 8 overs for next to nothing picking up couple of wickets each and keeping the pressure on.
Kedar and Suresh at the lower order gave the Bright Stars a ray of hope with 21 and 22 runs respectively towards the end. The fielding was at its best..Iqbal, Fareez pulling up some spritely dives in the field to save valuable runs. The Bright Stars ended up with a meager but fighting total of 126.
Yaswhin picked 3 wkts, while spin twins Himanshu and Gaganpal bagged up a brace.

AM Champs had to just play out their quota of overs and a semi final birth was beckoning. Fareez and Himanshu opened the batting for the Champs, Fareez after hitting a beautiful cover drive off the 1st ball got LBW in the 1st over itself to Chirag. The stage was set for Kunal to play a rip roaring innings and thats exactly what was to happen.
Kunal and Himanshu were stroking the ball sweetly before Himanshu got bowled by Nithin for 18 runs.
Yashwin stepped in to give Kunal company scoring 17 runs, but a couple of quick wickets and the Champs were 4 down, needing to score at 7 an over in the last 6 overs. Brendan then came in and along with Kunal sealed the game for the Champs. Kunal kept playing a Sachin(esque) innings scoring 61 runs with beautiful shots all over the ground. All was not finished for the Bright Stars...the Champs with a slight wobble towards the end with 2 runs to win, couple of quick caught & bowleds by Samit who was the pick of the bowlers with 3 wickets. With 2 to win off 8 deliveries, Hakim struck the winning runs with a boundary and AM Champs were the happy chappies who make it to the Semi Finals.

Final Score: Bright Stars - 126/8 in 20 overs
AM Champs - 129/6 in 18.5 overs

Result - AM Champs win by 4 wickets.

Results of Match 2 - AM Champs Vs. AM Tigers ; held on 9th February 2008

Teams: AM Champs - IMRE/Strategic & Business Development/Analytics
AM Tigers - PB Finance/PB Fiduciary/IM Finance/IM Client Rptg

A mouth watering clash was in store as the two AM teams went head to head into battle and they didn't dissappoint....

The result of this game would have a huge bearing on which two teams would qualify for the knockout phase of the tournament. AM Tigers and Perfect 14 with a win each..under their belt, it was a knockout game for AM Champs, who desperately needed a win to stay alive in the tournament and create a three way tie in the group. It would then boil down to net run rate. ie..the two teams with a superior net run rate would go through. But...was all this necessary???
Read on to find out....

The AM Champs won the toss and elected to bat.
The openers Himanshu and Fareez left & right hand combination provided a fantastic opening stand of 65 in quick time. Fareez fell for 30 and Himanshu 27.
Kunal and Abhilash came up with a good middle order partnership, notching up 21 each. But after that it was a case of the Tigers roaring their way through the Champs batting line-up. Sandeep Thakker and Suyog took 2 wkts each and a couple of run outs didn't help the Champs cause either, as they were blown away 9 down for 137 at the end of 20 overs.

The Champs with all to play for in the second innings...but restricting the Tigers below the target was never going to be an easy task. The Tigers stuttered early with Fareez getting Prashant clean bowled. Poor catching from the Champs, let the Tigers off the hook on a number of occassions. Amit and Sandeep Bhandari with 22 and 24 respectively tried to break the shackles, but it was a case of piling pressure on the batsmen and drying up the runs. All bowlers..Yashwin, Brendan, Chirag kept the pressure on chipping in with a wicket each.
Himanshu the left-arm spinner then bowled a superb four over spell picking 2 wkts for next to nothing proved to be the killer punch for the Champs as the Tigers were left high and dry 7 runs short of the target.

Scores: AM Champs - 137/9 in 20 overs
AM Tigers - 130/6 in 20 overs

Result - AM Champs won by 7 runs.

Government of India has an online Grievance forum

Government of India has an online Grievance forum at
http://darpg-grievance.nic.in/
The government wants people to use this tool to highlight the problems they
faced while dealing with Government officials or departments like Passport
Office, Electricity board, BSNL/MTNL, Railways etc etc.

I know many people will say that these things don't work in India, but this
actually works as one of our colleague in CSC found. The guy I'm talking
about lives in Faridabad. Couple of months back, the Faridabad Municipal
Corporation laid new roads in his area and the residents were very happy
about it. But 2 weeks later, BSNL dugged up the newly laid roads to install
new cables which annoyed all the residents including this guy. But it was
only this guy! Who used the above listed grievance forum to highlight his
concern. And to his surprise, BSNL and Municipal Corporation of faridabad
was served a show cause notice and the guy received a copy of the notice in
one week. Government has asked the MC and BSNL about the goof up as it's
clear that both the government departments were not in sync at all.

So use this grievance forum and educate others who don't know about this
facility.
This way we can at least raise our concerns instead of just talking about
the ' System' in India. Invite your friends to contribute for many such
happenings.
