Results of Match 2 - AM Champs Vs. AM Tigers ; held on 9th February 2008

Teams: AM Champs - IMRE/Strategic & Business Development/Analytics
AM Tigers - PB Finance/PB Fiduciary/IM Finance/IM Client Rptg

A mouth watering clash was in store as the two AM teams went head to head into battle and they didn't dissappoint....

The result of this game would have a huge bearing on which two teams would qualify for the knockout phase of the tournament. AM Tigers and Perfect 14 with a win each..under their belt, it was a knockout game for AM Champs, who desperately needed a win to stay alive in the tournament and create a three way tie in the group. It would then boil down to net run rate. ie..the two teams with a superior net run rate would go through. But...was all this necessary???
Read on to find out....

The AM Champs won the toss and elected to bat.
The openers Himanshu and Fareez left & right hand combination provided a fantastic opening stand of 65 in quick time. Fareez fell for 30 and Himanshu 27.
Kunal and Abhilash came up with a good middle order partnership, notching up 21 each. But after that it was a case of the Tigers roaring their way through the Champs batting line-up. Sandeep Thakker and Suyog took 2 wkts each and a couple of run outs didn't help the Champs cause either, as they were blown away 9 down for 137 at the end of 20 overs.

The Champs with all to play for in the second innings...but restricting the Tigers below the target was never going to be an easy task. The Tigers stuttered early with Fareez getting Prashant clean bowled. Poor catching from the Champs, let the Tigers off the hook on a number of occassions. Amit and Sandeep Bhandari with 22 and 24 respectively tried to break the shackles, but it was a case of piling pressure on the batsmen and drying up the runs. All bowlers..Yashwin, Brendan, Chirag kept the pressure on chipping in with a wicket each.
Himanshu the left-arm spinner then bowled a superb four over spell picking 2 wkts for next to nothing proved to be the killer punch for the Champs as the Tigers were left high and dry 7 runs short of the target.

Scores: AM Champs - 137/9 in 20 overs
AM Tigers - 130/6 in 20 overs

Result - AM Champs won by 7 runs.

Government of India has an online Grievance forum

Government of India has an online Grievance forum at
http://darpg-grievance.nic.in/
The government wants people to use this tool to highlight the problems they
faced while dealing with Government officials or departments like Passport
Office, Electricity board, BSNL/MTNL, Railways etc etc.

I know many people will say that these things don't work in India, but this
actually works as one of our colleague in CSC found. The guy I'm talking
about lives in Faridabad. Couple of months back, the Faridabad Municipal
Corporation laid new roads in his area and the residents were very happy
about it. But 2 weeks later, BSNL dugged up the newly laid roads to install
new cables which annoyed all the residents including this guy. But it was
only this guy! Who used the above listed grievance forum to highlight his
concern. And to his surprise, BSNL and Municipal Corporation of faridabad
was served a show cause notice and the guy received a copy of the notice in
one week. Government has asked the MC and BSNL about the goof up as it's
clear that both the government departments were not in sync at all.

So use this grievance forum and educate others who don't know about this
facility.
This way we can at least raise our concerns instead of just talking about
the ' System' in India. Invite your friends to contribute for many such
happenings.
